Summary

Haptic Knock is a 1:1 conversation connected through haptics. People you pair with exchange short haptic patterns (knocks) and, when both of you open a session, live taps. We collect only what is needed to run the service. Each connection is 1:1. You may have several pairs. A live session is with one person at a time. Apple Watch uses the same account and the same rules.

We do not sell personal data. We do not use your haptic patterns for advertising. We do not require microphone, camera, contacts, photos, or precise location.

Sign in with Apple

Authentication uses Apple’s identity token. We verify the token with Apple and store an opaque account id. If you later delete the account and sign in again with the same Apple ID, we restore that account rather than creating a conflicting one.

Notifications

With your permission we send alert notifications for knocks when the other person is not in a live session. Notification content is minimal (for example, that a knock arrived). Opening the app plays the stored pattern. The moment a notification arrives uses the system haptic only — not a custom pattern.

Apple Watch

The companion watch app uses the same account as the iPhone. It stores session tokens and your display name on the watch so it can stay signed in. Watch alerts use system haptics. Custom patterns play after you open them. We do not claim that a watch alert feels identical to the iPhone pattern.

Purchases

Optional in-app purchase: non-consumable Pattern share unlock (app.hapticknock.ios.pattern_share_unlock). Apple processes payment. We store that the account is unlocked so you can restore it. Sending a knock or using LIVE does not require this purchase.

Device permissions

Sharing

Infrastructure providers process data on our behalf (for example Cloudflare for API hosting). They process data under our instructions. Apple processes Sign in with Apple and App Store purchases.

Retention and deletion

You can delete your account in Settings → Delete account. That removes or de-identifies account data and related patterns, devices, pairs, and knocks (DELETE /v1/me).

Children

The app is not directed at children under 13. Do not use the service if you are under the applicable age in your region.

International transfers

Servers may process data in regions where our cloud provider operates. Appropriate safeguards apply as required by law.

Changes

We will update this page and the “last updated” date when the policy changes.
